The following are current and past programs and projects The Bob Avakian Institute has funded as part of our mission to preserve, project, and promote the works and vision of Bob Avakian throughout society.
Publications (2024-2025)
In 2024 and 2025 The Bob Avakian Institute published and distributed several important compilations of Bob Avakian’s work:
- Israel and Palestine, the Middle East and U.S. Imperialism, the Revolution Humanity Needs – a selection of writings from Bob AvakianIn April 2024 we published 5,000 copies of this pamphlet drawn from current social media messages, and past writings that provide essential analysis to understand what is happening and why. Thousands were distributed nationally.
Excerpts include:
Israel and its “Special Role” for U.S. Imperialism from 2007; What is the Right Way and the Wrong Way to Understand “Never Again”? from 2014; writings from 2023 include Some Basic Truths About the U.S.-Supported Israeli War Against Palestine; The Moral Blind Spot of Supporters of Israel Who Criticize Hamas—and Hamas Alone—for Murdering Children; Israel has done something truly incredible—Israel has managed to turn Jews into Nazis!; ▸ Answering people who say, “Why should I care about Palestine when we’ve got problems here?” and more.
- Bob Avakian – Official Biography. In May 2024 the Institute updated BA’s official biography (it was originally published in 2017) and produced 5,000 printed copies. This three-part Biography takes people through Avakian’s history, provides a distillation of key elements of what’s new in the new communism and points people to some of his key works. Sections include Part 1: Formative Experiences, Critical Junctures, Decisive Leadership; Part 2: The New Synthesis of Communism; Part 3: Key Works of Bob Avakian.
- Trump/MAGA Fascism – What We’re Really Facing, Why and What Must Be Done to Defeat It Before It’s Too Late, Volume 1 and Volume 2. These pamphlets are a collection of social media messages from BA posted at @BobAvakianOfficial. From April through late summer of 2025, The BA Institute printed and distributed over 50 thousand pamphlets in English and Spanish.
The day after Trump’s election, amidst widespread confusion and disorientation, Bob Avakian said “This is not a time for demoralization and despair—it is a time for righteous anger and revolutionary determination.” Over these months, he has continued to provide sharp clarity about the extreme danger of Trump MAGA fascism, the roots of this in the system of capitalism-imperialism, the dead-ends of relying on elections to defeat fascism and how it is necessary, and possible, to drive this regime from power through sustained nonviolent protest of millions.
- Reflections on the Free Speech Movement from Bob Avakian. In October 2024, Revolution Books, Berkeley and The BA Institute co-sponsored an important program to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Free Speech Movement which shook Berkeley and sent shockwaves across the country. For the occasion we produced a special pamphlet edition of Bob Avakian’s “FSM Reflections” written in November 1996.
WHY WE NEED AN ACTUAL REVOLUTION AND
HOW WE CAN REALLY MAKE REVOLUTION
A speech by Bob Avakian
In the summer of 2018, Bob Avakian gave a speech in several cities, now available online. There has never been a speech like this on these questions… until now.
The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!
In The Name of Humanity,
We REFUSE to Accept
a Fascist America.
A Better World IS Possible.
A Film of a Talk by Bob Avakian
This talk from Bob Avakian provides a scientific understanding of the roots of this fascist regime—in the history of the U.S. and the deeper roots in the system of capitalism-imperialism. He does so with passion, humor, humanity, and a deep sense of history. He cuts into the deepest, most agonizing questions, first in the speech and then in wide-ranging Questions and Answers. If more people watched this, it could change today’s political equation.
Produced by The BA Institute and Revolution Books Educational Fund

The New Communism: The science, the strategy, the leadership for an actual revolution, and a radically new society on the road to real emancipation. This needs to reach everyone who is agonizing over whether fundamental change is really possible. Contribute in particular to make it possible for those most denied in this society to dig into The New Communism, those whose life conditions make it difficult to pay full price, but who need to connect with the scientific breakthroughs and revolutionary understanding in this book — those just out of prison, in the projects and inner cities.
We were proud to co-sponsor the launch of The New Communism featuring Cornel West and Carl Dix and moderated by Andy Zee. Watch the Livestream of the event here.
